Brighten the day in this all-season cropped vintage denim jacket, embellished with appliqués of the morning sun.

We began with a pre-owned Express jacket from the mid-late 90’s (size Medium). Then, with swatches leftover from creating our Golden Poppy Bandana, we fashioned a cheery, poppy-flowered rising sun. Look closely for detail stitching on the leaves and stems that doubles as light quilting.

Super-wide legs, created by lightly quilting our Golden Poppy Bandana print, and a hand sewn coin pocket patch, make these up-cycled vintage jeans a standout One of a Kind piece.

We started with high-waisted, pre-owned Sasson jeans from the late 70’s/ early 80’s and pieced together inserts from bandana samples leftover from our dyeing and printing experiments. A tiny hole in the coin pocket was repaired and then covered with a hand-stitched patch.

Details

Fit: High-rise waist sits just below the belly button. On our 5’3” model these are a perfect boot length. They’d flatter as an ankle or flood length, too.

Feel: Authentic non-stretch denim, lightly softened from wear.

Features: Hand-dyed and screen-printed bell bottom inserts, lightly quilted from our Golden Poppy bandana seconds. Original vintage denim. 5-pockets. Hand-stitched coin pocket patch.

This delightful and quirky creation is conceived and hand-screened by Tom Hall. Rolling green hills, blanketed in golden poppies, surround another California icon, Bigfoot. A playful reminder to leave no trace, by not picking the poppies, is presented on a trippy retro banner of gold or orange.
